Re: 'Happiness', exhibition at Galleria Davide Di Maggio, Milan, in collaboration with Galleria Studio Legale (Rome) in October 2009.
I don't like to complain, but.... Davide Di Maggio sold a number of works at my exhibition but never paid me for them, and also kept the three works listed below, I still don't know if they were sold or not. They told me they would cover the transport costs but never did. The remaining work returned to me was rolled up into a big heap with a sculpture hanging out of the end and everything was damaged or broken.
So..... the title of the show 'Happiness' turned out to be a bit ironic.
I later discovered this has happened to a number of other artists who exhibited with this gallery too. We think probably they get away with it because they sell/keep/ruin just enough for it to be too expensive for an artist to make a case against them, and make sure they keep enough to cover their costs.
I know I sound a bit grumpy about this, but I've never encountered such people before and was quite suprised and saddened to think nothing is done about it. So if putting up this notice stops it happening to any other artists then I'll definitely be less grumpy about it.... if any artists are considering working with these galleries and would like further info, please contact me.
